Dear members, dear friends and supporters of the museum,

we wish you a Happy Easter and hope that you can enjoy the holidays!

Reopening on April 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM

Starting from April 12, 2026, it’s finally time again – we are kicking off a new season together! We are very much looking forward to seeing all of you again and experiencing many exciting days at the museum together.

The official start is at 1:00 PM.

To ensure everything can start smoothly, there will be a small work session the Saturday before. Here, we want to make the final preparations together and get the museum in shape. It would be really great if as many of you as possible could join and lend a hand!

We also ask you to sign up in the duty roster. Only with your support can we reliably ensure operations during the season.

Exclusive Tour of Lahr Airport

A special highlight this year: We have organized a very special and unique opportunity for our members: One of the last tours of Lahr Airport before all historical buildings there are demolished.

This exclusive tour is not only historically very interesting but also a valuable training that helps us actively fulfill our statutory purpose as an association.

For active members (who have taken on at least one duty or work session in the last season), the association will cover the costs entirely. For passive members, a fee of €8 will apply. Those who sign up for at least one duty in the 2026 season can also be exempted from the costs.

The tour will take place on May 2, 2026, and will be conducted by Dr. Schönleber (author of Auf Wacht am Oberrhein: Kanadische Garnisonen in Söllingen und Lahr und die lokale Gesellschaft 1953 - 1994, ISBN: 978-3863720735). Since the number of participants is limited to 30 spots, we recommend early registration.

Here are the details again:

Date: May 2, 2026
Time: 2:30 PM
Duration: 120 minutes
Meeting point: Einsteinallee 28, 77933 Lahr/Schwarzwald

Please register via email at vorstand@airforcemuseumsoellingen.de.

Social Media Video about Our Museum

Another highlight is also already in the pipeline: A video about our museum, produced in collaboration with Eurofighter pilot Gerald Groß, will be released soon. It will be published on his YouTube channel “Twin.G.Thrust” – stay tuned!
You can find the channel here: Twin.G.Thrust on YouTube. As soon as the video is published, we will, of course, share it on our channels as well.

New Information Boards in the Museum and Other Innovations

Recently, our information boards have been revised and modernized. They are now not only more informative but also more attractively designed to provide our visitors with an even better experience. Be sure to check them out on your next visit!

New Information Boards

There are a total of 8 boards about the aircraft, the engines, the history of the airbase, and the museum itself. The boards are attached to original runway signs (so-called DTGMs - Distance To Go Markers) from the inventory of CFB Baden Söllingen, which the Baden Airpark has kindly made available to us.

Each of the boards is equipped with a QR code that leads to further information in our audio guide. This allows visitors to dive even deeper into the history and technology of the exhibits. The audio guide is available in three languages: German, English, and French.
Additionally, there is a quiz for young visitors, allowing them to playfully test their knowledge about the exhibited items. The quiz is available in two versions: Mach 1 for younger children and Mach 2 for older kids. We hope to add more boards in the future to further enhance the offering.

Work Session

The boards were set up during one of our work sessions. The exhibits are continuously being revised and supplemented. Last year, some models were picked up that had been kindly loaned to us for many years. These gaps are currently being filled.

Furthermore, the sanitary facilities have been partially renovated, so they are now in better condition as well.

The work often lasted from early morning until late evening. At this point, we would also like to thank all the helpers who are engaged in the work sessions – without you, none of this would be possible!

Our Social Media Channels

We have reorganized our social media presence and are pleased to welcome you on the following channels.

It would be great if even more members would join our WhatsApp community. This way, we can quickly and easily inform you about news, dates, and last-minute changes.

Follow us, share our posts – this helps us become more visible!

If you have any questions about using the channels, you can also contact us anytime via email at vorstand@airforcemuseumsoellingen.de or schrift@airforcemuseumsoellingen.de.

We look forward to a great season with you, to many joint efforts, and unforgettable moments at the museum!
Thank you for your support and commitment!

Of course, we are still looking for support – more information on how to join can be found here.

With warm regards,
Your Museum Team
